While in Villafranca del Bierzo, Spain at the end of September (playing at an amazing festival called “Evento Sarmiento”) we were fortunate enough to get into this old theatre and shoot a video for “Trish’s Song”.
We’d been hesitant to create a video for such an intensely personal piece, and long ago ruled out any sort of narrative ideas. But the ancient, echoey rooms of Europe brought the thought of an intimate performance video to life. This room in particular had such a beautiful feel to it – so rosy and ornate and Spanish and sort of wonderfully feminine. It fit the song perfectly, and despite a long day and a few technical troubles, the song sang effortlessly in the room, take after take.
We hope you enjoy it. And go tell your mother you love her. Wherever she is.
We’d also like to especially thank our incredible Spanish hosts and friends that helped make this possible:
